Derek Posey grew up listening to AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Garth Brooks, and George Strait but never had any real interest in music until the age of 19. In his Sophomore year of college, he purchased his first acoustic guitar and had taught himself to play within a year. He then formed a band with some classmates that played the local bars in Angola, Indiana. After graduation, the band went their separate ways and Derek started to play acoustic shows as a solo country artist testing out his vocals for the first time. In January of 2016, he started playing with the current band and has been playing with the group consistently ever since. Derek’s love for real country music and southern rock can be easily be heard through his originals and covers.

Jeff Hatch picked up his first guitar at the age of 9, after begging his parents for a guitar since the age of 7. Jeff started his musical career by sneaking into bars to attend jam nights hosted by local legend Frank Medley.  Shortly after, he hit the road with his first band and has continued to pursue his passion for music ever since. Aside from being a jam night junkie, Jeff has spent time playing covers and originals for bands Grendl, Yellow No. 5, Empty 5th, and Felt prior to joining the Derek Posey Band.  When he isn’t trying to be a rock star, you can find him at his day job trying to keep people safe, hanging out with his wife Sheena, their daughter and their furry friends, riding his motorcycle, or at the tattoo parlor.

Caleb McCoy is one of the 2 McCoy’s holding down the rhythm section of the Derek Posey Band. He grew up with a true love for music, a curious mind for all genres and instruments, and has yet to find something that he has not wanted to pick up and play. A self-taught guitarist, Caleb is our low-end champ and loves bringing exciting bass lines and riffs to our shows. You never know what he and his father will surprise you with at any given show.

Dave McCoy grew up in small towns across Oklahoma in a musical family. His roots are in Gospel, Country, Texas Blues, and Rock. Julie, his wife of 35+ years hosts the practice space and is our biggest fan.
