Elvis and Friends

On October 20th, The Foundation hosted a packed house for “The Elvis Show, featuring Patsy Cline” at the Knox County Memorial Theater. Not since Johnny Cash came to town has Mount Vernon seen such an overwhelming crowd. The musical night opened with local singer Courtney DeCosky performing a powerful rendition of Cline’s music which allowed guests to travel back in time down a familiar country road. The headliner event then featured an energetic and entertaining performance by Mike Mazza as Elvis Presley. Not only did he sing and dance his way through Elvis’s well-known hits from the 1950s and 1970s, Mazza also added comic one-liners to his performance. Between the sets, Marilyn Monroe (played by Kelly Lauth) made a cameo appearance and sang “I wanna be loved by you” and “Happy Birthday.” The evening was fun-filled, to be sure, and all the proceeds went toward the construction of the new KCH Family Care Center.
